Requirements / Qualifications
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the general direction of the principal/coordinator, plans, develops, and implements an instructional program for adults detained or placed in probation residential facilities, provide instructional services in the Core Curriculum to meet GED requirements and performs other job related duties as required. EXPERIENCE: Experience relevant to the duties set forth in the Teacher, Correctional Education job description will be considered when making the selection decision. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University is required; Master’s Degree desirable. The following documents are required upon hire: Valid CA Driver's License, Fingerprint Clearance, TB Clearance, Bachelor's Degree • A background security check/clearance by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is required. CREDENTIALS/CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Possession of a valid California Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in correctional education programs. EL certification or equivalent such as CLAD, BCLAD, or SDAIE is required. Successful candidates will be NCLB compliant at the secondary level in Math, Science, English, and Social Science or become compliant within one year of employment. Applicants who have not utilized their credential(s) within the last 39 months in a school district must show verification of meeting the Basic Skills Requirement .
