he Grove School is seeking a math teacher who is interested in a more progressive style of education where students are active learners who are challenged to think, debate, create, discuss, work in groups, and do real and meaningful work at school and in the community. Teachers at The Grove School have the opportunity to design and adjust the curriculum to create a responsive, engaging, and active learning environment for young adults. At Grove, teachers value the ability to focus on teaching, know each student well, and work in a healthy, collegiate, fun and enriching community. This position includes teaching 5 periods classes, and a two unit enrichment class.

Under the direction of the principal, and in accordance with the policies, rules, and regulations established by the Board of Trustees, the teacher will be responsible for the execution of the following duties and responsibilities.

1. Provide the instructional program for students within the framework of objectives and goals mutually developed by the board, teacher and principal and within the framework of the State mandated programs.

2. Providing an environment conducive to good instruction and motivation in which there is an atmosphere of self-motivation and self-discipline in the areas of personal development, character, and academic integrity.

3. Endeavoring to achieve professional growth through ongoing development of skills and using new and accepted methods of instruction and materials.

4. Evaluating pupils' academic and social growth, reporting progress to parents, and keeping adequate records in accordance with district and individual school policies.

5. Establishing standards of behavior that are consistent, considerate, fair, and in keeping with the district and individual school policies.

6. Attempting to identify pupils with health, attitude, or learning problems and working with other professionals to assist pupils in establishing goals to eliminate such problems.

7. Performing or supervising other duties as the principal assigns, such as:

a.         supervising student activities both in and out of the classroom during the work day;

b.         administering group and individual tests in accordance with district testing programs;

c.         participating in curriculum and other extracurricular programs within the school;

d.         sharing in the sponsorship and supervision of student activities and participating on faculty committees;

e.         planning and coordinating the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other para- professionals.
