The successful teacher candidate will have a valid California Multiple Subjects credential, will be NCLB-compliant and English Language Learner certified at the time of hire.

In addition, the successful candidate:

Will be fluent in the reading, writing and speaking of the French language;

Will have understanding of French history and culture, as well as the history and cultures of other French-speaking countries;

Will be willing to teach extended day kindergarten;

Will be willing to assist with the planning and development of the dual immersion program (including curriculum development and community outreach);

Will collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching and learning;

Will have knowledge of early childhood education.

Credential authorizing service in a multiple subjects self-contained classroom. Must have certification for English Language Learner instruction (such as CLAD or ELL). Must have or be in process of earning a BCLAD in French. Application for employment must be accurate and complete.

Must submit an accurate and complete application for employment, a letter of application, a resume of training and qualifications, 3 current letters of reference (3-6 months), and a copy of a valid California teaching credential(s). Prior to employment, a candidate must submit evidence of freedom from tuberculosis. Also required after an offer of employment are a pre-employment physical exam (district-paid) and fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice.

          Franklin Elementary School will have a Dual Immersion French classes for the 2017-2018 school year that will focus on attracting students who will participate in an academically enriched advanced program taught by fluent French speaking elementary teachers, in a dual immersion instruction model. Candidates must have a valid California credential authorizing service in the elementary grades, English Language Learner (ELL) certified and already have or be willing to attain a BCLAD in French. Candidates for this position must be fluent in French reading, writing and speaking, and have an understanding of French history and culture.
