THE POSITION: Under the supervision of the State Resource Center Executive Director and in collaboration with the Program Managers for Nutrition, After School Health, and/or Health, assists with coordination of statewide and regional projects to develop, evaluate, and disseminate nutrition and health education guidance and standards, instructional and professional resources, research, laws, trainings, and technical assistance for program administration, regular day, and after school learning in California schools and after school programs and related agencies. This position is categorically funded through September 30, 2013; the contract is in the process of renewal. TYPICAL DUTIES: Works cooperatively with the Alameda County Office of Education, the State Resource Center, the California Department of Education (CDE), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) staff, other regional nutrition, after school and community-based program staff. Provide technical assistance to education agencies, public health departments, after school staff, teachers, health educators, state-level staff, state task forces, institutions of higher education faculty, and other agencies with a health and academic focus in California. Assists in researching, analyzing, summarizing, and coordinating the distribution of documents, research, laws, policies, and other health, learning, and program administration resources. Assists in the coordination and preparation of school and community health professional resource information for print (i.e. newsletters) and Web-based statewide distribution and access. Assists with evaluation and dissemination of school/ community health, learning, and professional resources, services, information, and training for after school and community health programs with the CDE, the CDPH, and other statewide and regional entities. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, community health, health education, or behavioral health; at least 5 years of health education experience in a community or school setting; at least two (2) years experience in professional development and education support or equivalent combination of education and experience.
