Job Summary

The Board of Trustees of the Westmorland Union Elementary School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of District Superintendent. The Board is looking for a collaborative leader who embraces shared decision-making, fosters trust among staff, and is actively engaged with the community. The District is governed by a student-centered, five-member Board that is dedicated to building a strong, positive relationship with its Superintendent and functioning as a cohesive governance team. The Board is committed to fulfilling its policymaking and oversight responsibilities, while empowering the Superintendent to lead and manage the District’s day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will value the opportunity to serve in a small, close-knit community and will bring a genuine commitment to student success and community engagement.

Requirements / Qualifications

Professional Qualifications: 1. A minimum of five years of experience as a Superintendent, Assistant/Associate Superintendent, and/or Administrator at the district or county office level in California is preferred. 2. Possession of a valid Clear California Administrative Services Credential and a valid Clear California Teaching Credential is required. 3. A Master’s degree is required; an advanced degree beyond the Master’s is desirable. As the Superintendent, describe how you would lead a strategic response to improve academic outcomes for all students. Address your approach to instructional leadership, stakeholder communication, and systemic change that promotes equity and excellence."
