Job Summary

Job Summary

The State Preschool Associate operates under the supervision of a State Preschool Teacher (as applicable) to provide care, instruction, and supervision of children in a County-operated State Preschool program. The State Preschool Associate also assists in the preparation and presentation of activity plans and assists in record-keeping. (In the absence of the State Preschool Teacher, the State Preschool Associate is expected to perform the full scope of State Preschool Teacher duties.)

Requirements / Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Assists in the instruction of children; • Assists in presentation of activity plans; • Assists in creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating student environment; • Assists in supervising children in play and developmentally age-appropriate activities; • Assists in the preparation of records and reports; • Participates in collecting evidence for student assessment; (Desired Results Developmental Profile – Revised (DRDP-R) data and/or data entry); • Assists in filling out DRDP-R forms; • Maintains positive and professional working relationships with support staff, parents, and the community; • Attends meetings as applicable; • Reads SBCSS emails regularly to receive pertinent information; • Supervises assistants and volunteers; • Performs full scope of State Preschool Teacher duties in the absence of the teacher; • Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a valid California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit – OR – transcripts verifying applicable units with the ability to obtain a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit upon employment; • Possession of valid Pediatric CPR and valid Pediatric First Aid certificates (must be in-person training or hybrid, 100% online training is not acceptable). NECESSARY MATERIALS FOR APPLICATION • Completed EDJOIN application (incomplete applications will not be accepted); • Copy of Child Development Associate Teacher Permit – OR – transcripts verifying applicable units with the ability to obtain a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit upon employment; • Copy of valid Pediatric CPR certificate and valid Pediatric First Aid certificates; • One (1) current (dated and signed within 1 year) letter of reference. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and provide all necessary materials online prior to the stated deadline to qualify as a candidate.
