The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) is recruiting for a limited term Outdoor Education Program Aide in the Outdoor Education Program. Cuyamaca Outdoor School is located in the beautiful, 25,000 acre, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park in east San Diego County. Under direct supervision, the Outdoor Education Program Aide provides support and assists with supervision for recreational and learning activities in environmental outdoor education, assists Outdoor Education staff with providing a safe atmosphere for 5th and 6th grade students, and gains knowledge and skills through exposure to all facets of a residential outdoor education program. Anticipated start date is August 26, 2024.

A combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to experience (paid or volunteer) working in an instructional, community, clinic, or home setting with elementary or middle school-aged children. Experience with outdoor education programs, camps or youth group activities is highly desirable. CPR and first-aid certification (or approved higher certification) certified by the American Red Cross/American Heart Association required within 30 days of employment.

Candidates who do not provide complete information may be eliminated from consideration.

Classified Support Grade 36. Optional, free, on-site housing is available. Meals are included when the program is in operation (including vegetarian/vegan options).
Length of Work Year
This is a six-month position; upon successful completion of training program, employment may be extended to full school-year employment and a raise to $24.57 per hour.
