Steps to Employment as a Substitute Teacher: -Complete EDJOIN Application -Resume OR Letter of Introduction -One of the following documents: A current, valid teaching credential (any subject); OR A current, valid CA Emergency Substitute Permit; OR Be prepared to provide sealed, official transcripts demonstrating a bachelor’s degree and CBEST results in order to apply for a CA Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit; OR If you are a student enrolled in a teacher preparation program, provide sealed, official transcripts demonstrating completed 90 or more units of coursework and CBEST results in order to apply for a Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers. Compensation: For substitutes holding an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit: $30/hr = $105 for half day (3.5 hours) and $210 for full day (7 hours) For substitutes holding a teaching credential and long-term substitutes (15+ days of continuous service): $35/hour = $122 for half day (3.5 hours) and $245 for full day (7 hours) Additional incentives: Every substitute teacher is assured a minimum of half a day's work. Once an individual has served as a sub for 5 days at SFCS, they will receive a reimbursement of $100 to cover the substitute permit fee.
